Apply to the Program

Are you interested in designing a better city?

This year, we’re creating opportunities for young Black designers, architects and placemakers to build your skills and join a community of Black professionals. The first stream of Black by Design showed high school and middle school what the field of interior design and architecture had to offer. These youth learned basic design skills, toured interior design firms and designed their own homespaces using AUTOCAD and other softwares.

In the second half of the program, post-secondary students who are pursuing a career in Interior Design will have the opportunity to network with professionals in the field and take part in a variety of job preparedness workshops including resume building, portfolio development and panel discussions.

This is an opportunity for you to join a community of young Black designers and architects who want to build careers and create change.

Eligibility:

To access this offering, participants must be over the age of 18 and currently enrolled/recently graduated from a post-secondary program in design or architecture program. We will also consider applications from people not enrolled in a design program, but who can demonstrate a dedicated interest in the field.

Sessions:

This program will run on Tuesdays from July 18th – October 3rd. We encourage participants to come to all sessions and notify us if they are unable to attend in advance.
