Nia Centre is proud to provide a platform within our space for Black Artists to showcase and sell their work. Works will be displayed throughout the main floor of our building, and be available for purchase for the duration of the afternoon. A unique Buying Black Art seminar will take place earlier in the day to provide the context, knowledge, and guidance to support potential buyers in making confident and informed purchases, and to ultimately support strong sales for the afternoon.
Nia Centre invites all artists from across the African Diaspora to apply, however, preference will be given to:
Artists who currently reside in the Greater Toronto Area
Be available to attend a portion of the art fair (Saturday, October 19, 2019, 11 – 5)
Visual art pieces, including, but not limited to painting, illustration, printmaking, photography, sculpture/ceramics, fashion
Art pieces priced between $30 to $5000
There is no submission fee for this call, however, Nia Centre will take a 20% commission of all pre-tax sales. Selected artists will also receive marketing support of their work. An experienced arts seller will be responsible for the sale and packaging of all works purchased.
Submission & Selection Process
To respond to the Call for Submissions, interested artists should fill out our A Black Art Fair Submission Form below. Only one submission per artist will be accepted. The deadline to submit artwork for consideration is Sunday, September 29 – late submissions will not be accepted.
Successful artists will be notified by Friday, October 4
Artwork is to be dropped off to Nia Centre for the arts no later than Friday, October 11 for inclusion in the Art Fair.
All artwork included in the Art Market will be insured by Nia Centre.
All unsold artwork will need to be picked up from Nia Centre for the Arts no later than Friday, October 25.
Submissions will be reviewed by members of the Nia Centre team.
