Experience this 2026 horror documentary all about Zombies and its connection to Haiti
Uncover the buried origins of the zombie in Haitian history, Vodou, and resistance in Maya Annik Bedward’s documentary Black Zombie.
This November, Niaflix presents Black Zombie (2026), a special screening of the documentary written and directed by Maya Annik Bedward.
From the roots of zombie mythology in colonial Haiti to its transformation into a Hollywood horror icon, Black Zombie explores the connections between Haitian Vodou, Black history, slavery, and spiritual resistance. Through archival footage, interviews, and iconic horror films, the documentary reclaims the zombie’s origins and challenges the stories that have shaped how we understand this familiar figure.
Join us for a special screening followed by a talkback with director Maya Annik Bedward, as we explore the history, cultural significance, and stories behind the film.
