Want to learn how to produce your own songs?
It is crucial for independent artists to have an understanding of the production process. This workshop will provide artists with the tools and information you need to record and produce your own music.
Producer Nate Smith and singer/songwriter Tafari Anthony will be co-hosting this introductory session. The workshop will cover at home recording, song structure, file management and other key aspects of the production process.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is for emerging (early in career) Black artists who are looking to develop their technical skills, grow their talent and better understand the process of studio recording and production.
Meet the Facilitators:
About Nate Smith
Nate Smith is a producer and music engineer from Toronto, with over 12 years in composing, production and recording in Hip hop and R&B. He graduated from the Harris Institute in Toronto, in their production and engineering program.
Smith is an alumni of The Remix Project, a 9 month industry incubator program. His recent production credits include TOBi’s Juno award winning album ‘Elements Vol 1’ and “Love to be Loved” by Zenesoul, which was nominated for Traditional R&B song of the year at the Junos in 2022.
About Tafari Anthony
Tafari Anthony is a Juno nominated artist whose music blends pop, soul and alternative sounds. He has an extensive list of credits which include song-writing and vocal production for JUNO nominated artists like Tanika Charles and Delta Sugar, as well as Drag Race stars Priyanka and Katya.
Anthony has an extensive list of accolades as well. He has been nominated for a TIMA award, and his single “Know Better” was named one of CBC’s Most Influential Songs in 2016. His latest EP “The Way You See Me” was nominated for the Adult Contemporary Album of The Year at the JUNO awards in 2022.
