Get your body moving in our seniors dance workshop!
Are you 50+? Looking to hear some music and get your body moving?
For the second part of our Roots in Rhythm series, we’re holding a dance workshop that celebrates the richness of Afro-Caribbean movement traditions. Designed specifically for senior participants, this workshop is an opportunity to reconnect with your body, celebrate the cultural legacy of movement, and build community with others.
The first part of this series will be an African drumming workshop held on Thursday, August 28th at 3pm.
Zahra Harriet Badua is a multi-disciplinary artist with a deep foundation in African diasporic dance traditions. She has performed, taught, and choreographed throughout Canada and the U.S., specializing in West African and Caribbean dance forms.
As the Artistic Director of ZahraMoves, she leads an educational and performance-based company dedicated to celebrating African diasporic culture while creating opportunities for emerging female artists of color. Zahra is dedicated to disseminating knowledge about the vast beauty and history of Afro-Diasporic dance. Beyond performance, she works as a movement coach for individuals with diverse developmental abilities and serves as the Production and Engagement Coordinator for dance Immersion, a Black-led non-profit organization that produces, promotes and supports dancers and dances of the African diaspora.
