How do you communicate your story?
Language is central within our lives. It has evolved as a medium to not only express our internal knowledge, but transfer our culture and traditions throughout generations and document our experiences.
On Thursday December 3rd at 6pm , Writer, Performer and Educator David Delisca, will explore the contemporary ways language is being used and communicated in communities as well as popular hip-hop culture.
The workshop will provide you with strategies on how to write and perform your creative pieces, and showcase how interactive elements of poetry, creative writing and rap is linked to the ways slang is used as an act of resilience and experience.
This workshop will be held on Zoom. Make sure to sign up to receive the zoom information.
This workshop is intended for youth and emerging artists between the ages of 14- 29*
Register Today!Born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida residing in Scarborough. David Delisca is a writer, poet, actor and humorist. A versatile artist, he uses stories about the immigrant and diasporic experience, as well as other various human realities, to bridge realms of communication. As an arts educator and facilitator, he has led hundreds of sessions throughout Canada, with various initiatives, using art to focus on such subjects as social justice, anti-bullying and hip-hop, among other topics.
