Our new chapbook, ‘Griot: Six Writers Sojourn into the Dark’, was featured on CityNews during Black Futures Month 2022.
Last summer, Nia Centre held a creative writing intensive program called Black Pen. Facilitated by writer, publisher and multidisciplinary artist Whitney French: the program guided 6 emerging writers to find their unique literary voices. The chapbook created through that program is available at indie bookstores across Canada, and as a no-cost Ebook.
CityNews interviewed our executive director Alica Hall and writer Onyka Gairey about their story ‘Stone Fruit’ and their experience in the program.
