Having an external recommender for Black-Canadian artists like the Nia Centre who are committed to expanding and pushing Black visual aesthetics and cultural development was encouraging as a first-time applicant to the Exhibition Assistance program. The application process was simple and accessible, and this funding will contribute in a significant way to the presentation of my first solo exhibition in the coming months!
