Come be our next Artist-in-Residence!
Looking to take your practice to the next level?
Our Artist-in-Residence program is a unique opportunity for Toronto-based Black artists to access a dedicated studio space 2-3 times a week (Monday to Friday), as well as a stipend of $1,000 in order to develop their art practice at the Nia Centre for the Arts.
The goal is not to put pressure on the artist to use this time to create a body of work but rather to focus on helping Black artists expand their skills and discover new artistic practices that would support their long-term development. The program includes access to mentorship and the opportunity to showcase work and provide our community with an interactive activity or event.
We are currently inviting 2 visual artists and 1 dancer for the following 6-week periods:
1. Visual Artist (November 3, 2025 to December 14, 2025)
2. Visual Artist (January 12, 2025 – February 27, 2025)
3. Dancer (January 12, 2025 – February 27, 2025)
The application period for this intake of the Artist in Residence is September 1st, 2025 to September 21, 2025.
