Horror Noire Makeup Competition

Enter our Halloween Makeup competition!

Are you a makeup enthusiast who loves Halloween? This month, we’re ringing in spooky season by celebrating your talents.

We’re giving you the opportunity to win a special Nia Centre prize. The winner will receive:

  • 2 tickets to the advanced screening of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at ScotiaBank Theatre
  • A 1 x 1 makeup session with Toronto-based makeup artist Rahsthetics
  • A gift bag filled with items from Black-owned businesses

The winner and runner up will be selected by makeup artist Rahnell Branton (@rahsthetics). Winning looks will be shared on Nia Centre’s social media at the end of the competition.

All looks must be submitted by 12:00 pm on the 30th of October to be considered for the prize.

How to Enter:

  1. Take 2 – 3 high quality images (can be taken on a cellular device) in good lighting of your makeup look.
  2. Submit the photos by email to info@niacentre.org with the subject line ” Your Name – Horror Noire Submission”
  3. Include the following info in your email submission: Preferred Name, Contact info and a Blurb about your makeup inspiration.

Winner Selection:

Winners will be selected by makeup artist Rahnell Branton. The winner will be contacted on October 31st and a Nia Centre staff member will coordinate getting you the prize.


Meet Rahsthetics

Rahnell Branton, better known as Rahsthetics, is a Toronto-based multi-disciplinary artist. For nearly a decade, she has been best known for emphasizing Black Queer communities through the art of makeup. Her imaginative artistry disrupts how beauty is perceived and celebrated. Her work credits include magazine editorials like Bully Mag and Flaunt Magazine. She’s worked on campaigns for brands like 4ye and Moose Knuckles. Her music video credits include Allie, Chippy x Nonstop, Full Crate and more.
