16-year old poet Leila has been part of many of our youth programs at Nia Centre for the Arts. More recently, she's been participating in creative writing workshops with Keosha Lovee in our Kuumba After School program, a free virtual arts camp that allows youth between the ages of 14-19 to explore different artistic mediums alongside their peers and a career level artist.
In the last few weeks, Leila has been inspired by Keosha and how she incorporates mindfulness practices in her work. She was invited on a call with Keosha for a segment on Metro Morning to talk about contemporary Black changemakers in Toronto.
Leila surprised her mentor Keosha Love and thanks her for her guidance through her creative journey.
