Understanding the basics of studio recording is crucial for any emerging artist trying to record their own music. This workshop will provide participants with insight into the recording process by helping artists build technical skills and giving you the opportunity for one-one-one feedback.
Producer and sound engineer Nate Smith will introduce artists to the inner workings of the studio and share his extensive knowledge about production and the record industry.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is for emerging Black artists who are looking to develop their technical skills, grow their talent and understand the process of studio recording.
Nate Smith is a producer and music engineer from Toronto, with over 12 years in composing, production and recording in Hip hop and R&B. He graduated from the Harris Institute in Toronto, in their production and engineering program.
Smith is an alumni of The Remix Project, a 9 month industry incubator program. His recent production credits include TOBi’s Juno award winning album ‘Elements Vol 1’ and “Love to be Loved” by Zenesoul, which was nominated for Traditional R&B song of the year at the Junos in 2022.
